The Energy Story

In 1990 Alex introduced recuperative gas furnaces designed and built by Stinchcombe Furnaces to replace oil burning furnaces. At the time 50/50 oil/gas was being used; by replacing the oil furnaces it resulted in no oil being used and the gas bill remained the same. This represented a 50% reduction in energy costs.

The waste heat from all the furnaces was channelled through ducts around the rest of the building, warming up parts of the building that previously had never been warm.
