Corporate Responsibility

The Company

Hall & Botterill is committed to reducing energy costs and usage. By replacing oil furnaces with recuperative gas ones, we have reduced energy costs by 50%. Waste heat from the furnaces is ducted around the building therefore reducing the need for heaters.

We have a rolling programme, replacing every light bulb with LED lighting, saving at present approximately 9.5 kw per hour.

The Employees

As a caring employer, we are concerned for the safety of all our staff. Introducing robotic fettling will remove dangerous applications, therefore creating a safer work environment. Foundry work is hazardous and arduous. Therefore, by man and robot working in tandem, the danger will be reduced, whilst considerably reducing the difficulties associated with fettling, and increasing a working man’s life by impacting less on his body.

The Environment

Since 1985 H & B has not just talked about protecting the environment and setting dubious targets – H & B has actually reduced the energy used in manufacture by over 94%, or the energy per £1 of output is just 5.17% of that used in 1985.

Aluminium is 100% recyclable, in fact over 75% of all Aluminium produced since 1888 is still in use today.

Quality

We are backed by ISO 9001:2008

Ethical Production

We will NOT move production to a third world country for short term price gain at the expense of the planet.

H & B deplores the use of slave labour and sweatshops. We will not thrive from the misery of others.
